Midstate humane society helping Milton relief efforts

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — A Midstate animal shelter is helping shelters in the south in the wake of Hurricane Milton.

The Humane Society of Harrisburg is waiving adoption fees to make room for animals impacted by the storm.

The shelter says it doesn’t yet know how many animals it will receive, but their partner at the Brandywine Valley SPCA’s West Chester campus in Chester County has already taken in more than two dozen cats. They say it’s only the beginning.

“With disaster relief efforts what were trying to do is take animals that they’ve had available for adoption and have them adopted out here so that they can really focus on the efforts down south to find the displaced animals,” Amanda Brunish, Director of Marketing for the Humane Society of Harrisburg, said.
