NYC mandates composting: Here’s when you need to leave it out for collection

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Mandatory composting began in New York this week – but when should you leave that brand new brown pail by the curb?. From Oct. 6 onwards New York City residents are required to separate their organic waste from the rest of their trash as part of the city’s expanded curbside composting program.
