Consider Ubering: Reno airport parking expected to max out Friday-Sunday

Reno-Tahoe International Airport is expecting its parking to hit capacity this weekend — including overflow lots — as fall vacations take hold.

The parking garage and surface and overflow lots are anticipated to fill up by Friday, the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority said in a Thursday release.

As of Thursday afternoon, the short-term garage had just over two dozen spots and the long-term surface lot had zero spots available. When usage rises, the airport will open surface lots along its Loop Road.

The uptick in demand is largely due to Washoe County School District’s fall break, “which is contributing to a significant increase of travelers choosing to park at the airport,” the authority said.

Passengers are encouraged to use other forms of transportation and arrive early for their flight.

How to get to Reno-Tahoe International Airport this weekend

Rideshares, taxis and shuttles are a few ways to get to the airport without passengers driving themselves. If possible, passengers can also get a ride from a family or friend.
