Human remains discovered in La Pine identified as missing Oregon City man

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Human remains discovered in Central Oregon earlier this week have been identified as a man who has been missing for more than a year.

On Thursday, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office announced the remains belonged to 44-year-old Oregon City resident Daniel Richard Phillips.

Portland police release body camera footage from September officer-involved shooting

The Sheriff’s Office revealed his body was found east of Highway 97 and north of State Recreation Road, in a wooded area of La Pine on Monday.

According to officials, Phillips was reported missing from the Crescent area about 15 months ago.

Authorities said foul play is not suspected in Phillips’ death, but the investigation is still ongoing.
