These are the richest people in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, according to Forbes

One of the country’s richest billionaires is from Cincinnati.

Three Ohioans, including Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown and his family, made Forbes 400 , an annual ranking of the 400 richest people in America . According to the Oct. 1 report, Brown and his family ranked No. 338 with a net worth of $3.9 billion.

Their fortune stems from owning the Bengals, who are worth roughly $4 billion. Brown’s father, Paul Brown, co-founded the team in 1968.

Brown was the only Cincinnatian to make the Forbes 400 list. However, the list also includes two other Ohioans, three Indiana residents and one Kentucky resident.

To determine its findings, Forbes spoke with the 400 members on the list in person, virtually or by phone. The finance publication also interviewed their employees, handlers, asset managers, financial advisors, rivals, peers and attorneys.

Forbes evaluated thousands of Securities and Exchange Commission documents, court filings, probate records and news articles, and it took into account all types of assets, ranging from stakes in public and private companies to real estate, art, yachts, planes and more. Forbes excluded debt and funds donated to charitable foundations and donor-advised funds.
