Fort Myers girl, 7, dead after truck hits her on Gazelle Drive. What we know

A seven-year-old girl is dead after authorities said a pickup truck struck her Thursday afternoon (Oct. 10).

The crash happened on around 12:26 p.m. on Gazelle Drive in North Fort Myers, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Authorities say the girl was on a side road, located on the north side of Gazelle Drive and entered the direct path of the approaching Chevrolet Silverado, which was traveling east.

The front left of the vehicle collided with the girl on Gazelle Drive.

The 7-year-old was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center. She was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the truck is a 69-year-old North Fort Myers man.

The crash is still under investigation as of Friday (Oct. 11).
