Animal protection advocates gather for reception and preview of upcoming season

In Palm Beach, there are “parties for the animals” and there are “party animals.”

Sometimes they converge. This was one of those times.

American Humane board members, donors, and supporters came together for “Cocktails and Conversation,” an evening of … well, cocktails and conversation.

The event took place April 25 at Casa de Los Angeles ( House of the Angels), the Marion Sims Wyeth-designed home of Greg and Kim Renk Dryer , and included cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and remarks from Robin Ganzert , American Humane’s president and CEO.

Ganzert discussed American Humane’s accomplishments and upcoming highlights, which include the annual Hero Dog Awards on Jan. 8 at The Breakers, a new Sanctuary in Martin County, and a documentary film.

Mike, a retired Air Force veteran, and his service dog dog Justice, stole the spotlight — and hearts. Both are graduates of American Humane’s Pups for Patriots project. Mike shared the story of their heartfelt journey, emphasizing the significance of the Pups4Patriots program and highlighting how Justice has not only saved Mike’s life but also his family’s.
