Local Halloween celebration created for kids with food allergies. When the mother of two kids with food allergies wanted to create a safe, stress-free way for them to celebrate Halloween, she quickly learned she wasn’t alone. Stephanie Douglas knew about the Teal Pumpkin Project, a nationwide initiative to let young trick or treaters know which houses are food allergy-friendly, and so she started the Teal Pumpkin Party at her local YMCA in East Greenbush. It has brought together more than two hundred kids, who want to enjoy Halloween without worrying about which treats might be harmful to them. The 3rd annual Teal Pumpkin Party is Saturday, October 19 from 2-4pm at the YMCA in East Greenbush.
