Govs. Tony Evers and Gretchen Whitmer to join Tim Walz in Green Bay on Monday for Harris campaign

GREEN BAY — Like a crossover episode, two different presidential election events will converge in Green Bay on Monday with a cast of Democratic governors.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will join Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz on his first visit to Green Bay this election cycle, according to Whitmer’s team, before continuing their bus tour through the key battleground states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

The tour’s name, “Driving Forward Blue Wall Bus Tour,” is itself a reference to these Midwest states, which voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in every election between 1992 and 2020, with the notable exception of 2016.

They add to the flurry of visits to the area that have ramped up in the home stretch to Election Day by Democrats and Republicans alike, highlighting the importance of voters in northeastern Wisconsin for victory in the eyes of both presidential tickets.

While it will be the first time the Wisconsin governor stumps in northeastern Wisconsin as a surrogate for the Harris-Walz campaign, it will be Whitmer’s second appearance in Green Bay this year following her arrival just last month to contrast abortion views between Vice President Kamala Harris and her Republican opponent, Donald Trump.
