Speeding car crashes into another, strikes 13-year-old girl on Abington sidewalk; 2 arrested

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two Philadelphia men were arrested in Abington Friday afternoon after their car struck a 13-year-old girl on the sidewalk.

Police say Jason MacDonald and Goldwin Prince, both 21, were the occupants of a speeding car that blew a red light and collided with another car at the intersection of Jenkintown Road and Abington Avenue in the Glenside section of Abington just before 4 p.m.

After the collision, officials say their car went onto the sidewalk and hit a 13-year-old girl who had just been safely guided across the road by a crossing guard. The girl was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

MacDonald and Price fled the car after the accident, but officers quickly detained them.

MacDonald, the driver, faces charges of aggravated assault, reckless driving and fleeing an accident.

Price, who police say was the passenger, was in possession of an illegal handgun and marijuana. He’s charged with a firearms violation and possession of marijuana.
