Amarillo man sentenced to 25 years in prison on aggravated robbery

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — An Amarillo man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for “Aggravated Robbery” following a 2022 incident announced the Randall County District Attorney, Robert Love.

On Monday, a Randall County Jury convicted Chase Thomas Hunt after he pleaded guilty to Aggravated Robbery following an incident when a teenager was shot during a robbery.

As was previously reported by MyHighPlains.com, a 17-year-old was injured in a shooting at an area apartment in the 2800 block of SW 28th Ave.

Police determined that an attempted robbery led to the shooting. Hunt was identified as the suspect and arrested.

According to the DA’s office, Hunt pulled out a gun while the victim was attempting to sell him THC products. Hunt told the victim to put the THC product on the ground and when they did not comply; Hunt “pulled the trigger three times,” which resulted in a wound to the victim’s chest.

The victim was taken to the hospital where they survived and was able to testify at Hunt’s trial said the DA.
