Spokane man sentenced to 15 years in prison for meth, fentanyl possession in Idaho

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A U.S. District judge in Idaho sentenced a Spokane man to more than 15 years in prison for drug possession related to an overdose.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, officers were on the lookout for 47-year-old Joshua Berg related to an overdose in Montana in February 2023. Berg was suspected of having information at the incident.

Law enforcement in Shoshone County saw Berg and he led them on a high-speed chase. Berg crashed into a snowbank and ran away but was caught nearby.

Berg had over a pound of methamphetamine and half a pound of fentanyl pills on him. Officers also found a gun Berg threw away during the chase.

Berg was sentenced to 188 months in prison with four years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
