JUPITER FARMS — Monique Richter watched Wednesday afternoon as a tornado picked up her trees and buildings at Blue Ridge Farms and threw them into the forest, tearing them to shreds.
She didn’t expect one tornado to ruin the six years of work she put into her farm. The twister tossed two trailers, one tiny house and one large metal building she used as event space, ruining them all.
“The damage is heartbreaking,” Richter said Thursday from her property in Jupiter Farms . “Everything I’ve worked so hard for is gone. But my parents are good and my animals are still alive. That’s all that matters.”
The National Weather Service in Miami on Thursday was still assessing whether the tornado that came to Jupiter Farms was the same one that caused significant damage in the Avenir section of Palm Beach Gardens and also in the Wellington and Acreage areas to the southwest.
