Devore, Big Bear animal shelters offering free pet adoptions in October

Animal care officials are teaming with an auto maker and the the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to offer free pet adoptions through the rest of October at shelters in Devore and Big Bear, organizers said.

The Subaru Loves Pets initiative is taking place at the Devore Animal Shelter, 19777 Shelter Way, as well as the Big Bear Animal Shelter, 42080 Shore Dr., according to San Bernardino County Animal Care officials.

“Thanks to a generous grant from the ASPCA, this collaboration allows us to ensure every pet has the chance to find a loving home,” according to a statement from the office of San Bernardino County Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe. “This opportunity not only provides families with a chance to add a new member to their household, but it also helps alleviate the growing number of companion animals entering shelters across the country.”

All adoption fees will be waived for qualifying pets during the event, officials said. Each adoption includes spaying or neutering, microchipping and essential vaccines.
