LUBBOCK, Texas — By a joint effort from Muleshoe ISD and a Muleshoe area hospital, school nurses can now administer over-the-counter medications to students with written permission from their guardians, according to a press release on Friday.
Previously, MISD nurses were not allowed to administer over-the-counter medications to students, even with written parental consent. Parents were then forced to leave work to administer over-the-counter medication to their children during school hours.

Dr. Worner, a physician at a Muleshoe Area Hospital, signed authorization, allowing MISD school nurses to administer over-the-counter medications to students with written consent.
MISD said this agreement is a significant accomplishment for students and their families. The decision is also a testament to the positive impact of the unified efforts of community organizations.
