No injuries reported in roof fire at Madison’s Starr Grass Drive

MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Starr Grass Drive Friday afternoon.

Madison Fire PIO Cynthia Schuster said it was a structure fire reported at 3:48 p.m. at 8206 Starr Grass Drive where multiple callers reported seeing the roof on fire.

Schuster said firefighters could see black smoke seen from Raymond Road. Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy black smoke and fire coming from the roof of the location. MFD said fire was also showing in two separate locations.

Fire crews made their way to the roof and began attempts to put out the fire.

Additional crews attacked the fire from the inside. Initial knockdown was reached at 4:08 p.m.

At this time, firefighters remain on scene to ensure all hot spots have been cooled and a fire does not re-occur. An investigation into the cause of the fire will be underway.

The building impacted by the fire is not currently occupied and no occupants are displaced. No injuries have been reported.
