Second woman comes forward with claims of car scam, authorities search for suspect

IBERIA PARISH, La. ( KLFY ) – On September 9th, Donna Stelly says she was shopping at the On-The-Run convenience store in Scott when she was approached by 38-year-old Kendel Labbe about purchasing a vehicle.

Stelly says Labbe showed her pictures of a Chevy Traverse and asked her if she was interested in buying the car. She says she approved and agreed to meet him at her home the next day.

“He would come the next day, and I gave him $1300 dollars and he noticed I had a flat on my car…and he said look ima take this tire and I’m going to get it fixed for you…so when I come tomorrow…I’ll drop off the new vehicle”, said Stelly.

She says she believed Labbe would come back with the car the next day, but he didn’t show. She says she tried to call him many times, only to find out he blocked her. She advises people to think twice before making a purchase from strangers.

“I learned my lesson the hard way, I will definitely be aware of scams from now on, I really didn’t think this would ever happen to me but it can happen to anybody”, said Stelly.
