A local company feels blind-sided by more than $200,000 in fines issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration this week. Universal Recycling Technologies President Ken Thomas says the company has been working with OSHA for close to 20 months working to get in compliance after an inspection in April of 2023 found employees being exposed to unsafe levels of lead and cadmium.
