Suspect in custody after barricading in Salt Lake City home

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — Authorities safely placed a suspect in custody in Salt Lake City after the suspect allegedly injured one person and barricaded himself inside a residence upon the arrival of police.

According to the Unified Police Department , dispatch received a call on Friday around 12:20 p.m. and responded to a residence near 3900 South 2000 East and made contact with the individuals inside the home. Police said the victim and at least two others exited the residence.

The suspect — identified as Geno Trujillo, 52 — allegedly retreated into the home and barricaded himself inside. Authorities called in the SWAT team who safely took Trujillo into custody. Police have yet to announce any charges.

Officials said the victim did not receive any significant injuries during the incident and refused medical attention. They are cooperating with investigators.

While detectives are still on the property, there are no ongoing road closures related to the situation. Authorities did not order any evacuations or shelter-in-place calls during the incident.
