Pilot Rescues Man Clinging to Cooler After Hurricane

Additional Coverage:

A Coast Guard pilot, Lieutenant Ian Logan, was surprised to find a man clinging to a cooler 30 miles off the Florida coast during a search mission after Hurricane Milton.

The man, who had gone out to repair his boat, became stranded when it disabled again. After losing contact with the Coast Guard, he spent the night strapped to the cooler.

Logan and his crew were overjoyed to find the man, who was miraculously alive. He was brought aboard the helicopter and was covered in salt and seaweed, resembling the character from the movie “Castaway.”

Logan described the moment as one of the highlights of his career.
