A gruesome discovery has shaken Mesa County, Colorado. The head and hands of Amanda Leariel Overstreet, a 16-year-old girl who vanished in 2005, were found in a freezer in a home that was recently sold.

The chilling discovery was made on January 12, 2023, when a person collecting the freezer from the new owner stumbled upon the body parts. It took nine months of investigation for authorities to identify the victim through DNA testing.

Overstreet had been living with her biological mother in the home where the remains were found. However, her disappearance went unreported. The circumstances surrounding her death and the years-long delay in reporting her missing are still being investigated.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office has emphasized that the current owners of the home are not connected to the crime and have urged the public to respect their privacy. The investigation into Overstreet’s murder remains ongoing.
