Asphalt paver facing theft by deception charges

PIERRE, SD (KELO) — South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says scammers are taking advantage of people who need work projects completed as quickly as possible.

A Louisiana man is facing charges for deceptive business practices involving an asphalt paving job.

Authorities say 24-year-old Bill Roger Acker III represents a family business that’s believed to be working in western South Dakota.

He’s also charged with Grand Theft by Deception.

Jackley is reminding people to never give into high-pressure sales tactics, especially from those soliciting business door-to-door.
