WSSU transfer from CIAA school hitting stride

Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) transfer defensive lineman Jaylyn Norris has played an essential role in team’s success.

The junior defensive lineman transferred from Bluefield State University. Norris went to Escambia High School in Pensacola, FL where he earned the award for having the most sacks of the year for the team.

While Norris was at Bluefield State University he played against WSSU and he got the coaching staff and Myles Wallace’s attention.

The six-foot defensive lineman hit the transfer portal and landed at WSSU.

Transferring to WSSU was a big decision but the experience Norris has had is unique and valuable.

“The experience here was an experience I never had at Bluefield, even though that was my first home,” Norris told HBCU Gameday. “The crowd and the band are exciting.”

“My favorite part is the resources around everybody helps, is easy to talk to, and help you get what you need,” Norris said.
