Customer satisfaction survey finds that customers prefer Wawa over Sheetz

Delaware County-based Wawa and Altoona-based Sheetz are sources of fierce regional pride here in Pennsylvania. And as the convenience store chains extend their footprint into the Midwest and South, customer loyalty is expanding far beyond the borders of the commonwealth.

So much so that Wawa received the highest marks for customer satisfaction among all U.S. convenience store chains, according to a survey from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).

Wawa scored 82 out of a possible 100 points, beating out Oklahoma-based QuikTrip, which came in second, and Texas-based Buc-ees and Arkansas-based Murphy USA, which tied for third.

Sheetz earned a very respectable 79 points, good for a fourth place tie with Iowa-based Casey’s General Stores. The ACSI’s industry-average score for convenience store chains is 76.

Results of the ACSI Convenience Store Study 2024 were based on nearly 6,000 surveys, where customers were asked to evaluate chains based on convenience of store hours and location, quality of the app, effectiveness of mobile order pickup, food quality and availability, checkout speed, staff friendliness, store cleanliness, and the quality of coffee and fountain drinks.
