And many more: Souk celebrates fifth birthday with 6-course dinner

Souk Mediterranean Kitchen and Bar in the Warehouse District of downtown Toledo just celebrated its five-year anniversary, inviting guests on Oct. 1 to commemorate this milestone over a six-course wine dinner accompanied by live music with Jim Filipiak of The Bridges.

The restaurant quickly became a neighborhood staple to many Toledoans, and even survived a global pandemic just months after its opening in October of 2019, making it’s five-year anniversary that much more rewarding.

When Mike DeWine announced that all restaurants had to be closed in early 2020, Kara Salloukh, Moussa’s wife said she will never forget the look on her husband’s face when he heard the news.

“It was like the blood left his face and pure stress,” Kara said, who serves as the director of wine and brand experience at Souk.

“But if you know Moussa, you know he was just challenged to work harder. … And here we are today, celebrating five years of community and five years of Moussa doing what he does best and what he loves to do.”
