New tentative contract agreement to help ‘attract, retain’ UH faculty

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A tentative agreement has been reached for University of Hawaii faculty represented by the University of Hawaii Professional Assembly.

According to Governor Josh Green M.D., UH President David Lassner and the UH Board of Regents, the agreement was reached more than eight months before the current contract expires.

Governor Green, Lassner and the Board of Regents bargained with the UHPA to create the multi-party, two-year contract, which if accepted, will begin on July 1, 2025.

University of Hawaii plans changes after Title VI investigation

The current contract for UH faculty will expire on June 30, 2025.

“Reaching a tentative agreement more than half a year before the expiration of the current contract is a testament to the power of collaboration,“ stated Christian Fern, executive director of UHPA.

Reports said all four parties must agree to the terms and conditions of the new contract.
