State begins mailing out ANCHOR program checks to thousands of applicants

Some New Jersey residents may soon receive their ANCHOR program payments. The New Jersey Department of Treasury says that more than 900,000 benefits sent via direct deposit were scheduled to hit bank accounts on Thursday. The department also says that about 100,000 checks were mailed out on Friday. “Payments will be distributed on a rolling basis until all eligible applicants receive their benefit,” a spokesperson for the department wrote in a statement.
