Blacksburg residents express thoughts after end of boil water advisory

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. ( WFXR ) – September 30 must have felt like an eternity ago for residents of Blacksburg. That was when the Montgomery County boil water advisory began.

Now eleven days later, and it has been lifted everywhere in the county. The advisory in Blacksburg and Virginia Tech was lifted yesterday, and everyone is breathing a sigh of relief.

“I was actually really, really happy,” Calla Coleman, a freshman Humanities for Public Service major at Virginia Tech, said. “My roommate and I were able to get cases of water, but it was still fairly inconvenient, so when I got the notice, I literally started dancing around the room.”

The rest of the staff and students at Virginia Tech will experience the good news after the end of their fall break.

Local restaurants are also feeling better. The Maroon Door in downtown Blacksburg was having some trouble without running water. Workers are relieved it’s over.
