NEW YORK (PIX11) – A shooting at a NYCHA complex in the Lower East Side left one person dead and another injured Saturday evening, police say.
Police received a 911 call about a shooting at the Smith Houses on 54 Catherine Street at 7:14 p.m.
Authorities say one person was shot in the lower body, and another person was shot in the neck. EMS transported the victims to a local hospital. One of the victims was initially listed in critical condition but later died at a Manhattan Hospital, police said.
Details about the events leading up to the shooting were not immediately known.
No arrests have been made.
An investigation is ongoing, according to the police.
