Ft. Lauderdale man arrested for pointing gun at man at Cross Creek Fish Camp

Staff report

HAWTHORNE, Fla. – Darron Alexander Lee, 29, of Ft. Lauderdale, was arrested yesterday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly pointing a gun at a man at the Cross Creek Fish Camp.

At about 11:19 a.m. on October 11, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call about an armed disturbance at the Cross Creek Fish Camp (14501 CR 325).

The deputy spoke with the victim’s friends, who reportedly said Lee had displayed a firearm and that the victim had run east to an unknown location.

Lee reportedly said he had gotten into an argument with several people; he said he had warned the victim and his friends that there was an alligator in the area, and some time later, the victim threatened to harm him. He said he confronted the victim with a gun in his hand but denied that anything physical happened or that he had pointed the gun at the victim.

A friend who was with Lee reportedly said that Lee did not know what to do after the victim and his friends did not leave, so she unloaded her firearm and gave it to Lee, suggesting that they might leave if he confronted them with the gun. She said Lee did not point the gun at the victim.
