After winning a five-set slugfest on Friday night , it was much smoother sailing for the Nebraska volleyball team on Saturday as the Big Red swept Rutgers (25-15, 25-16, 25-12) at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
It was the Huskers’ 11th sweep of the season and caps off a 2-0 weekend.

Nebraska jumped out to an early lead before the Scarlet Knights responded to take an 8-7 lead. That was the only lead Rutgers would have in the frame as the Huskers quickly went on a 6-1 run, then quickly followed with a 7-1 run to grab complete control of the set.
Nebraska hit .206 in the set compared to Rutgers’ .000 and out-blocked the Scarlet Knights 5-2, finishing the frame on another 4-0 run to grab a 1-0 lead.
It was more of the same in the second stanza, as the Huskers never trailed. The Big Red again started quickly but never let Rutgers get back into it. A 7-0 run early pushed Nebraska’s lead to 10 and the Huskers cruised to a 2-0 lead from there.
Rutgers again struggled offensively, although Nebraska only tallied one block in the set. Still, the Big Red outhit Rutgers .214 to .089.
