Rising Number of New Farmers and Ranchers in South Dakota Supported by NRCS Programs

{KXLG – South Dakota} The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in South Dakota has reported a significant increase in the number of new farmers and ranchers in recent years. NRCS Outreach Coordinator Darrel DuVall emphasized that the NRCS offers numerous conservation programs specifically designed for beginning farmers and ranchers (BFR), defined as producers with less than ten years of consecutive production history.
