OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was taken to the hospital and another was arrested following a shooting near Kalamazoo Saturday morning, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office says.
Deputies responded around 10:45 a.m. to a report of a shooting on Mount Royal Dr. off of W KL Avenue near Drake Road in Ohstemo Township.
The victim was shot while standing outside of an apartment building, the sheriff’s office said. That person was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition.
Deputies said they found a spent shell casing at the scene.
Deputies found the suspect not far away at a home in the 5500 block of W KL Drive.
The suspect, whose name was not released Saturday, was taken into custody and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
