Update: A BadgerSafe Alert said police have cleared the 400 block of State Street and it is safe to return to normal activities.

MADISON, Wis. — Police are investigating reports of an armed man on the 400 block of State Street, according to a BadgerSAFE alert issued Saturday night.

The alert went out at 9:58 Saturday night. Police are asking residents to avoid the area.
