Trifecta of Illness: Fontana, San Bernardino, Bakersfield Rank as California’s Unhealthiest Cities

According to a recent report by WalletHub, Fontana, San Bernardino, and Bakersfield have been named the three most unhealthy cities in California. The rankings were part of a nationwide study that evaluated 182 cities across the U.S. based on four key dimensions: Health Care, Food, Fitness, and Green Space.

Fontana topped the list as the unhealthiest city in the state, followed by San Bernardino and Bakersfield. These cities ranked poorly in categories like access to healthcare, availability of healthy food options, fitness opportunities, and the amount of green space available to residents.

WalletHub’s analysis considered 41 different metrics, assigning each city a score out of 100, with higher scores representing more favorable conditions for a healthy lifestyle. Only the city proper was evaluated, excluding surrounding metro areas.
