Strong Thunderstorms Also Possible Across Parts of New York & Pennsylvania
10/12/24 6:09pm ET
Good evening everyone. As forecasted and expected, we are watching heavy showers and thunderstorms racing across parts of lower Michigan, and skirting northern areas of Indiana, and eventually getting into northern Ohio.
These storms are in response to much cooler and drier air behind a cold front bumping into relatively warm and humid air in Great Lakes region. Very strong thunderstorms moved across Lake Michigan and came ashore onto the mainland a short time ago; bringing wiith it, locally strong winds, hail, frequent lighting and torrential rain.
While we do not have any severe weather watches or warnings at this time, we could still see some localized reports of downed tree limbs, some hail damage, and flooding in poor drainage areas.
We expect these storms to move fairly quickly and grow southward in scope, putting parts of northern Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania, and western New York into the fray over the course of the evening, into tonight, and the early morning hours of tomorrow from west to east.
