Cade McConnell listed as ‘questionable,’ ahead of FIU

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – UTEP’s Cade McConnell is listed as ‘questionable,’ ahead of the Miners next game on Wednesday against FIU.

McConnell went out of UTEP’s last competition against WKU on Thursday night in the 2nd quarter after suffering an apparent wrist injury. Allegedly this a persisting injury the quarterback has been facing all season.

Second string Skyler Locklear stepped in after McConnell didn’t return against the Toppers, collecting 82 yards going 11-for-17 in nearly three quarters of play. According to head coach Scotty Walden, he says that’s the most comfortable he’s seen Locklear play all season.

“I thought Skyler played with a lot more poise than what we saw in his previous playing time,” said Walden. “Skyler is a heck of a player, he’s super talented, there’s just times where wants to make a play so bad for his team he forces things. I really think against Western Kentucky he really played efficient. I really thought he did a really good job at playing under control and letting the play come to him.”
