Vance: Climate Concerns Shouldn’t Stop People From Having Kids

Additional Coverage:

Ohio Senator JD Vance strongly criticized the idea of avoiding having children due to concerns about climate change. He labeled it as “deranged” and “crazy” during an interview with The New York Times Magazine.

Vance believes that the U.S. has become “anti-child” and argues that it’s bizarre to not have children out of climate concerns. He also criticized leaders who encourage young people to think that way.

The senator shared how fatherhood has changed his perspective on life, saying it has transformed how he thinks about himself and his wife. He believes that avoiding children based on climate fears is a misguided and extreme view.

Vance has previously discussed raising children from a policy perspective. However, since joining the GOP, he has also faced criticism for past statements where he referred to some Democratic officials as “childless cat ladies” who don’t care about the country’s future.
