Paws 4 the Cause hosts spooky animal-friendly fun at ‘Barktoberfest’ in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Paws 4 the Cause worked to address the overcrowding crisis many local animal shelters are facing by raising awareness and hosting a fun and fur-filled event on Saturday.

Barktoberfest 2024 featured vendors, food trucks, live music, and a Halloween costume contest with prize gift bags for the winner, and animals ready and eager for adoption into a loving home. Organizers said the goal for Barktoberfest was to reach or surpass $15,000 for the central Kentucky rescue operation’s emergency medical fund.

“We take in extreme medical cases from a lot of the rural shelters that would never get out of the rural shelters if it wasn’t for the fact that we take it, take in these animals,” said Anita Spreitzer, Vice President of Paws 4 the Cause. “So that emergency medical fund helps us to be able to save lives, so we’re here today trying to raise $15,000.”
