Heavy Frost & Freeze Possible Across North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota

Frost & Freeze Also Possible Across Parts of Kansas

Good afternoon everyone. Cold air is beginning to sweep in behind our strong cold front and low pressure system which is bringing some hefty thunderstorms to parts Lake Michigan and lower Michigan.

This will begin to settle down as the evening wears on, but we have unseasonably cold air on the heels of our system. Across a wide area of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, northwest Iowa, western Minnesota, and possibly northern Kansas, temperatures are expected to dip well below freezing overnight.

For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for a large swath of the Upper Midwest for conditions overnight that could damage crops. Frost advisories also exist in areas around the perimeter of the Freeze Warning where temperatures will hover near freezing.

We could also see a repeat tomorrow night as winds settle down a bit and radiational cooling helps brings temps down into the low to mid 20’s.
