Millbrook man gets 15 years in federal prison of drug distribution charges

A Millbrook man has been sentenced to more and 13 years on federal drug trafficking charges.

A federal judge sentenced Derrick Andrea White, 44, to 165 months in prison Oct. 10 for possession of cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute the drugs, Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson said.

According to the plea agreement and other court records, on March 18, 2023, an Alabama State Trooper attempted to stop a vehicle in Wetumpka after observing a vehicle violation. The driver, later identified as White, refused to stop. A pursuit ensued and the trooper observed White throwing objects out of his car window. The vehicle pursuit ended once White reached a dead end and exited the car.

White then fled on foot but was apprehended after a short chase. Investigators recovered the items discarded by White during the pursuit. The items were eventually determined to be packages of cocaine and marijuana. During his plea agreement hearing on July 9, White admitted to possessing the illegal drugs because he intended to distribute them.
