Fayetteville police are investigating after there was a shooting at Cross Creek Mall on Sunday afternoon, police said.
Witnesses reported that people began running out of the mall before 6:30 p.m.
Rickelle Harrell, a police spokeswoman, told The Fayetteville Observer that the incident was under investigation.
“We aren’t pursuing any suspects,” she said, “and the incident does not appear to be a random act.”
She confirmed that it was a shooting, but she did not immediately know if anyone was injured or if the shooting happened inside or outside the mall.
Sunday was the third day of the weeklong Cross Creek Mall Family Fun Festival in the parking lot. The carnival opened Friday and runs through Oct. 20.
