Firefighters Battle the ‘Jack Fire’ in Riverside County

BEAUMONT, RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Oct. 13 (KNN) — Firefighters are at the scene of a vegetation fire that erupted in Riverside County late Sunday afternoon.

At 4:30 p.m., Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department received reports of a vegetation fire in the area of Highway 60 and Jack Rabbit Trail in Beaumont.

Initial size-up had the fire at 100+ acres with a rapid rate of spread. The fire, dubbed the “Jack Fire,” continued to spread due to difficult access for fire resources.

At 7:30 p.m., the fire was reported at 200 acres with zero percent containment. No homes have been burned at this time, and there are no current evacuation orders.

Water-dropping helicopters and ground crews are expected to continue throughout the night to contain the fire.
