At 8:23 p.m., the two were crossing the intersection when they were struck by the NJ Transit bus, which was turning from Elizabeth Avenue onto West Scott Avenue, Rahway police said.
The 13-year-old sustained head pain and a severe leg injury, requiring a tourniquet to address the injury. The father sustained minor abrasions on his body. Both the juvenile and her father were transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment, police said.
The bus driver was issued two summonses for failure to yield to a pedestrian and careless driving, police said. He was hospitalized as a precaution, police said.
