Local Utility Company Gives Financial Boost to Local Restaurants in Northern and Central California

Locally-owned restaurants across Northern and Central California will receive a financial boost from the California Restaurant Foundation (CRF) and The PG&E Corporation Foundation. This year, the PG&E Foundation has allocated $900,000 to fund $5,000 grants for 154 hometown restaurants in 30 counties, aimed at helping them invest in equipment upgrades and workforce training.

The funding, sourced from PG&E shareholders, not customers, will support a total of 80 restaurants across the nine Bay Area counties, with significant assistance directed toward minority- and women-owned businesses.

Among the grant recipients are 56 restaurants in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, and San Mateo counties. The PG&E Foundation’s contributions will aid grantees in improving their operations, including paying for unforeseen hardships, employee retention bonuses, and technology upgrades. Notably, this year’s grants have expanded to include commercial caterers, recognizing their vital role in the local food scene.
