ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man is facing several charges after he spent several weeks on the run in Anderson County.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said 34-year-old Walter Lee Mattison, Jr. caught the attention of law enforcement on September 22 when deputies tried to initiate a traffic stop on his vehicle.
According to reports, Mattison was speeding and disregarding traffic signs before crashing the car and fleeing on foot around Scott Road and Due West Highway. Upon investigation, deputies discovered the vehicle was stolen and had several drugs inside, including cocaine in the center console.
On October 10, deputies located Mattison on Cedar Ridge in Anderson and took him into custody. Reports state more drugs were found inside the home.
Mattison is charged with reckless driving, failure to stop for blue lights, driving under a suspended license, trafficking fentanyl and several drug charges including possession of cocaine and fentanyl.
Mattison made bond and was released the day of his arrest.
