This six-month proposal was first introduced as creating a new Murphy Oil gas station and convenience store at the Northeast corner of Mobile Street and Springhill Avenue.

PROPOSED LOCATION:

This week, developers said they wanted to expand beyond just the vacant lot behind the Del Barco neighborhood. They proposed the idea of also taking down two 300-year-old oak trees and one residential home.

Sherry Allen has lived in one of the homes in the neighborhood for over 45 years, with her husband who has lived there for his entire life.

The Allen family told News 5 that they are scared of the community falling apart.

“It’s just going to be horrible as far as being neighbors, being here this long. It was a close-knit neighborhood. Everybody watched after everybody,” said Sherry Allen.
