UMC’s electronic health record systems restored over two weeks after ransomware attack

LUBBOCK, Texas University Medical Center announced it restored its electronic health record system across all of its locations as well as its Find-a-Physician page on its website.

Patients can access and communicate with UMCP Clinics through the MyTeamCare patient portal. UMC said it is working to restore patient-facing systems and internal programs for patient care.

A select number of patients are being diverted from UMC’s Emergency Centers as they continue to accept patients via ambulance.

This update comes over two weeks after the hospital system faced a ransomware attack, causing IT issues and forcing the hospital to divert patients.

UMC’s investigation into the ransomware incident remains ongoing as it works alongside third-party firms to restore full operations. UMC thanked its patients and community for their patience and understanding during this time.
