Luke Fickell gives update on injured Wisconsin WR Will Pauling; plus, challenge of facing Northwestern

MADISON – The Big Ten schedule has taken Wisconsin far and wide this season.

The Badgers opened league play in Los Angeles at USC. Last week they traveled to the East Coast to face Rutgers.

This week they’ll stay in the Midwest for a matchup with Northwestern at Martin Field in Evanston, Illinois.

UW coach Luke Fickell met with reporters Monday afternoon at the McClain Center in advance of the 11 a.m. Saturday matchup with the Wildcats .

Good news on Will Pauling

Junior receiver Will Pauling left the game Saturday in the third quarter with what was called an upper-body injury. Fickell said Monday that Pauling was checked for a concussion but didn’t have one or any other major injury.

That said, Fickell noted that it’s too early in the week to know Pauling’s status for the game this week.

Pauling took a hard shot from linebacker Dariel Djabome after making a 7-yard grab across the middle. Pauling fumbled and didn’t make a move to recover the ball before Rutgers players got there.
