Blue Shield of California set to lay off dozens, Bay Area employees impacted

( KRON ) – More than a dozen Blue Shield of California employees will be laid off by Dec. 11, according to a state filing.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice said 61 employees are set to be discharged from employment in multiple counties including Alameda, El Dorado, Los Angeles, Sacramento and San Joaquin.

These layoffs are not the first of the year. The nonprofit health insurance let go of 140 people in January.
